New office and showroom for a western-suburbs demolition and salvage company.
After years in a cramped, run-down, asbestos-filled shanty, the rapidly expanding company was in desperate need of a new center of operations. A disused vehicle shed at the entrance to the brick yard was the ideal location; its existing steel frame and heritage brick walls providing good bones and a connection to the historic past of the industrial suburb.
The dramatic increase in volume within which to accommodate the program, made meeting space and light requirements relatively easy. There was an emphasis on using the salvaged products the company offers throughout the build, the challenge being to show off as many of these as possible without creating a patchwork.
